Privacy and cookies

This page explains what we collect when you use the UK Short-Let Rules Tracker. We keep it short.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

If you click Accept on the cookie bar, we use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and which tools are used (for example the checker, levy calculator and signup forms). This sets analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, and ad features stay switched off. If you click Reject, or make no choice, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Your choice is stored in your browser (local storage).

Cloudflare Web Analytics

We may also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless: it counts visits without cookies or tracking you across sites.

Newsletter and alerts

If you sign up for the newsletter or council alerts, we store your email address (and the council you chose, for alerts) with our email provider, Resend, only to send those emails. We also record which link brought you to sign up (for example a campaign tag in the link, or the website you came from), and which signup box on our site you used, stored on your contact so we know which places reach hosts; this uses no cookies. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We never sell or share your address.

Feedback

If you use the "Was this page helpful?" box or the "Spot something wrong or out of date?" form, what you send (your vote, any comment or source link, the page address and the time) comes to us by email, sent through our email provider, Resend. We only use it to improve the site. Your email address is optional; if you give it, we use it only to reply to you. Your browser remembers (in local storage, not a cookie) that you have voted on a page, so we do not ask again.

Embedded widgets

The embeddable checker and levy calculator do not load analytics or set cookies.
